iTero Scanner

Digital Imaging for Dentistry

The iTero intraoral scanner is a device used by dentists to capture detailed 3D images of the teeth, mouth, and jaw. iTero scanners are often part of treatment planning for restorative and orthodontic procedures, including Invisalign treatments.

iTero Digital Scanning

iTero scans are a non-invasive form of imaging that does not use radiation. A wand is moved over the teeth, quickly collecting all the necessary data. The images are then compiled into a complete 3D model that can be viewed on a computer screen.

iTero Scans vs. Traditional Modelling

Previously, dental modelling involved applying plaster to a patient’s teeth and letting it solidify. This method can be uncomfortable and less accurate than digital scans.

iTero scans often replace these traditional techniques, making 3D modelling of the teeth and mouth more comfortable for patients and more efficient for dentists.

The iTero scanner maps the mouth in detail and full color, allowing dentists to see the exact positions and shapes of teeth and gums. From these scans, dentists can create comprehensive treatment plans and have dental appliances constructed directly from the digital data.

The iTero wand is smaller than traditional intraoral scanners, making it easier to take accurate scans of molars.
